Thanks to the close to 40 neighbors who attended the April 23 annual meeting! At this meeting you: heard from your mayor, Dana Ralph; you elected new officers; you asked to plan quarterly meetings; and you supported continuance of great neighborhood activities.
You also voiced a wish to address certain issues common within our neighborhood. Safety is huge with us. Speeding on our streets is a large annoyance and big safety issue. Abandoned and derelict cars (and properties) is something you wish to address, but not sure how. Traffic revisions seem to need a double check. Parks may need some physical help or analysis on proper use. AND AS ALWAYS – the S. 272nd Street “speedway and free-for-all” could use some controls set in. There were several other concerns, but these were the most prevalent.
Given all of that, you directed your council leadership to create a formal request to the City to support our neighborhoods with an examination of these issues. We also shared with the Mayor and staff that we, as residents of this neighborhood, are willing to help wherever we can. This letter is available for your review on our website.
In reference to the traffic hotspots and broken-down vehicles, your council is working on a report for submission to the Mayor’s office but need some help from each of you. Some of you have tried working with Code Enforcement but that hasn’t proved effective. So, we will be sending a list to the Mayor’s office on behalf of the neighborhood. We ask you to make notations of these incidents and send them to us for inclusion within this report. Include location, some description and photos if possible. Please send this to our email address at whcncouncil@gmail.com before May 8th and we will formulate these requests, if appropriate, into the list of concerns.
