…and Shoes for Kids report
Thank you to those of you who dropped shoes off for donation to our Evergreen and Star Lake Shoes for Kids drive last month. A gracious thank you as well for the cash donations made (online and in person). You may be happy to know that those funds were used to purchase new basketball shoes for a student trying out for the girls’ basketball team, among other things.
Jazmin, our Communities in Schools representative at Evergreen shared, “There was a total of 41 pairs of shoes donated, a couple of which were brand new with tags still on them!! Using a donation value guide, I’ve estimated that the value of shoes donated to be roughly $750! I’m so thankful!”
Moving on to a new project.
Jazmin has identified a family that the Council has agreed to sponsor for holiday giving. This is a mom with two teenage students. There are some clothing items requested that we will purchase. Other requests are things like gift cards (Visa, Target, Fred Meyer, etc.) and a gift card for a nice dinner out for the family (Mama Stortini’s, Red Robin, Azteca, or The Rock). If you wish to contribute to this project, please let Holly or Lanae know. They are available for drop-off. We would like to have this pulled together by December 14 so we can securely get that delivered to Jazmin for transfer to “mom”.
